05.04.03 - 25.05.03 a subtle play between the artists: san cool (belgium), photography inge panneels (united kingdom), glass both artists propose together "sanctuary": can be in the mind, body and place. they put their single inspirations together to make new works in their own discipline. a very special emotion to see the result of this collaboration, somewhere unique in the artist's world. san cool a sculptress from birth, she chipped away at many a stone as the inspiration took her, until she was suddenly overcome with an immense respect for the stones themselves. she immediately stopped sculpting and stood in silent awe for the wonderful beauty of untouched stones in the landscape, and decided to record them as they are in their own hallowed surroundings: the sculptress becomes a photographer. inge panneels working with different types of glass, from sculpted casts and architectural panels to wall lights and tiles, inge is interested in light, both natural and artificial and she uses a variety of techniques also combining the glass with contemporary materials such as stone, metal and wood. supported by ©2003 maarten callebert
